Snowcamp Sunrise (Mt. Dickerman, WA)
After trekking up 4000 feet to the summit with our 40-pound packs in the nonstop rain, and then digging out a campsite only to be tentbound while the weather passed, it was hard not to ask, 'why? why do this?' A few hours before sunrise, we finally stepped out of our tent to clear skies and got our answer. Because out here, when you least expect it, you can witness more beauty than you can almost bear.
