The Seven Continents in 2017

To move, to breathe, to fly, to float,
To gain all while you give,
To roam the roads of lands remote,
To travel is to live.

This blog post is a bit different – less of a story or a photo journal, and more of an announcement of some exciting plans I have for the year. This year, I plan to do something I’ve never done.

What is that “something”? The answer: the Seven Continents.

That’s right! I’ve decided to travel to and explore all Seven Continents this calendar year.

Why all seven? Why this calendar year? Part of me, at first, wondered if the idea was arbitrary. But after much thought, I concluded that the plan was perfect. What better way to see the world – and to see it now.

In today’s society – with careers, calendars, corporate ladders, and commitments to a secure future – it’s all too easy to put off what we live for. To stay within that comfort zone. To forego new experiences that would otherwise expand the mind to greater dimensions.

Because now – the present moment – is all we really got. Tomorrow (or next year) is not guaranteed to anyone.

So, that’s the good news: I will reach all Seven Continents in 2017.

Asia:

I will ski the mountains and volcanoes on Hokkaido, Japan. (Happy to have already checked this one off the list last month – stay tuned for a future post on the trip.)

Australia:

I will trek and road trip the South Island of New Zealand.

Europe:

I will explore Iceland (my first ever visit).

Africa:

I will climb to the top of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, the highest mountain in Africa.

South America:

I will explore Argentina and Chile.

Antarctica:

I will reach the land of Antarctica.

North America (Home):

I will further explore my home in North America.

Adventurously yours,

Scott
