Join Me on Africa's Highest Peak

Whether you'd describe it as "bucket list" or not, my travel plans for 2017 are BIG. If all goes as planned, I hope to travel to and explore all Seven Continents this calendar year. I'm on my way — I've already reached the continents of Asia and Australia, in addition to my "home" continent.

Looking at the journey ahead, I am beyond excited for Africa. From August 27 to September 3, I plan to travel to the country of Tanzania and trek to the top of Kilimanjaro, the continent's highest peak. I will be part of an all-inclusive trip with Anywhere, a rad new company that will guide our expedition group to Kili's summit via the famous Machame route.

I'd love for you to join our climb! Visit the link here to "get the details" and complete the form to ask about getting your spot in the Anywhere trekking group. (For a $200 discount, mention me in the 'notes' section of the form. This is a discount to benefit you only, I don't get any commission or payment if you use it!) With Anywhere, the trip will be truly all-inclusive — once we land at the Kilimanjaro airport and get picked up by our Anywhere guides, we won't need to touch our wallets once over the course of the entire trip.

Why trek to the top of Kilimanjaro? Here are just a few reasons why I am STOKED:

Reason #1. To experience a new culture on the other side of the planet.

This will be my first ever visit to Africa, and I cannot wait to immerse myself in a new culture, people, and way of life. This trip experience will be "culturally immersive," and I fully expect to return home with a new sense of perspective and vision.

Reason #2. To meet new friends on the trek!

I'm a big believer in the immediate connections a group of people can make on the trail and as part of an adventure their hearts are fully in. These connections will undoubtedly be made on this trek up Africa's highest peak.

Reason #3. To experience new terrain and new nature.

While I've become plenty accustom to the terrain, nature, flora, and fauna of the Pacific Northwest, it only takes one trip to an entirely new world and landscape to see things differently.

Reason #4. To experience life at high camp and acclimatize at an elevation I've never reached.

The height of Kilimanjaro is 19,341 feet above sea level. To date, the highest I've climbed is Mount Whitney in California (14,505′) and, after that, Mount Rainier in Washington (14,411′). I'm intrigued to experience the environment at the high camps and to see how my body will react to being thousands of feet higher than I've ever been.

Reason #5. To reach the African continent's highest peak.

Although I love hiking, trekking, and mountaineering, and while I feel I've gathered much experience in the mountains, I have yet to say I've reached any of the continents'  high points. With Kilimanjaro being the highest peak in Africa, I'll be able to check that bucket-list item off, and then look to which other continent's high points will be next. :)

Reason #6. To be above the clouds.

It doesn't happen too often, but whenever I'm high up in the mountains and lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to find myself above the clouds, it's truly a magical moment in which you feel so alive. Fingers crossed that I'll experience just that during this trek!

So, what do you say? If you're interested in joining me on this Anywhere trip — a once in a lifetime adventure — please visit the link here and complete the form to inquire about joining our group! (And for a $200 discount, mention my name in the 'notes' section of the form.) Got questions? Leave them in a comment below. Hope to see you in Africa!
