A New Chapter, a New Life

Banff Vermilion Lakes
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all
— Helen Keller

Within the last week, I've had a few acquaintances ask what I'm now doing for work. One suspected that I was operating a "blogging" business. Another wondered if I was selling calendars (haha). Their questions were completely good-hearted (and a bit humorous to me), but I've realized that the news of my recent career transition has not reached all of my family, friends, and acquaintances. That needs to change.

So, what am I up to these days? Here's the answer: in April of this year, I ended my full-time role as an associate attorney at my law firm, a bittersweet move after nearly five years in the law. Now, I'm passionately pursuing work as a photographer and writer, with a focus on adventure, landscape, travel, outdoor lifestyle, and astro (night). My new business involves some traditional aspects, such as photography licensing, photo shoots, and print sales. But it also involves other less obvious aspects, including partnering with brands and destinations to create and share promotional content on social media and elsewhere. I am learning a ton and have made some great progress so far, but it's all about the journey that lies ahead.

So, am I crazy? I don't believe so. Will my new work be challenging? No doubt. Can I make it as a photographer/writer? Only God knows for certain. But what I do know is that I've done my due diligence, considered all the angles and the pros and cons, and I am now giving this my absolute best shot and working not only harder but smarter than I ever have. For the first time in my life, I am pursuing a genuine passion. And regardless of the outcome, I will look back on this choice and thank God I made it.

Thank you, first and foremost, to my beautiful wife, Jill. She is my rock, and is amazingly supportive and understanding. Not sure where I'd be without her. And, of course, a big thank you to everyone else who has supported me so far and who will support me in the future. You can follow my work on my site (www.scott-kranz.com) and on Instagram (https://instagram.com/scott_kranz/). If you have (or know of anyone who has) photography needs, please think of me. Or if you know of any individual or company that I should connect with or simply know about, I want to hear it. There's no limit to the connections and partnerships that can be made, and I'm stoked to explore, learn, and grow evermore. Again, THANK YOU. And ... Cheers to life as a daring adventure!
