North cascades larch WORKSHOP
October 5-7, 2018
Please join us this fall during larch season in the North Cascades for a unique photography workshop experience co-instructed by National Geographic contributor Stephen Matera and Scott Kranz. This three-day, two-night workshop will involve one overnight backpacking outing plus other hiking outings for both sunrise and sunset shooting, while focusing on photography techniques for creating images of the incredible mountain landscapes and golden larch scenery one can find in the North Cascades during the fall season.
In the weeks before the workshop, each of the participants will meet (in person or virtually) with the instructor(s) to discuss your background, experience, and aspirations, setting the stage for a successful workshop field trip. Beforehand you will also receive a welcome packet outlining the workshop itinerary and providing a full packing list and all other details to fully prepare you for the workshop!
On the weekend of the workshop, the workshop will start at approximately 10 a.m. on Friday, October 5 in the Mazama, WA area, and will end at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 7 (totaling three days and two nights).
- Friday night will be spent camping in the wilderness as part of a one-night backpacking trip, for which students will bring their own backpacking and camping gear.
- Saturday night will be spent in lodging (the cost of which is included in the workshop tuition) in the Mazama area, to allow for a large-group classroom session on Saturday evening.
The workshop is limited to eight participants to to ensure each participant receives personal attention and guidance. At least 5 participants must sign up for the workshop to take place.
Also please note this photography workshop will involve moderately difficult hiking and backpacking with significant elevation gain each day, so participants should be physically fit for hiking with loaded packs over challenging terrain.
