Photography retreat Terms & Conditions
Effective August 1, 2026.
General Terms
Participation in a Scott Kranz Photography retreat involves accepting certain risks and responsibilities. By registering, you agree to release Scott Kranz, his team, and associated parties from liability, and you fully assume all risks, including those related to injury, illness, loss, or property damage. You acknowledge that the retreat activities and travel carry certain risks that are inherent to each activity and cannot be eliminated without destroying the unique character of the activity. These inherent risks are some of the same elements that contribute to the unique character of the experience, and they can cause loss or damage to your equipment, or accidental injury, illness, or in extreme cases, permanent trauma or death. The following describes some, but not all, of those risks: falls or being dropped, falling rocks, fractures, concussions, dangerous weather, overexertion, overheating, injuries from lack of fitness or conditioning, hypothermia, death, equipment failures, emotional distress, among other risks inherent in recreating in wilderness areas or mountainous terrain. This description of inherent risks is not complete, and other unknown or unanticipated risks may also result in injury or death.
You agree to assume and accept full responsibility for the inherent risks identified here and those not specifically identified. Your participation in this activity is purely voluntary; no one is forcing you to participate, and you elect to participate in spite of, and with full knowledge of, the inherent risks.
You acknowledge that retreat activities may require a degree of skill and knowledge different from other activities, and that you have responsibilities as a participant. You acknowledge that your instructors are available to more fully explain to you the nature and physical demands of this activity, along with its inherent risks, hazards, and dangers.
You are expected to review all pre-trip materials, pack appropriate clothing and equipment, and act respectfully toward other participants, local communities, and the environment. Scott Kranz Photography reserves the right to deny or revoke participation if necessary to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the group.
Cancellation and Refund Policy.
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your reservation, as outlined in the payment schedule provided at booking. This deposit cannot be transferred to another guest or another Scott Kranz Photography experience.
Prior to your first scheduled balance payment:
Your deposit remains non-refundable.
If you've made any payments beyond your deposit ahead of their due date, those early payments will be refunded in full.
After your first scheduled balance payment, up to 90 days before the retreat start date:
Option 1: You will be refunded 50% of any balance payments made (in addition to the deposit, which remains non-refundable).
Option 2: You may instead choose to roll over 100% of any balance payments made toward a future Scott Kranz Photography experience (retreat or workshop), to be used by the end of the following calendar year.
89 days or less prior to the retreat start date:
No refund, payment, or credit will be issued.
No partial refunds for late arrivals or early departures.
Changes or Cancellations by Scott Kranz Photography
In the rare case that a retreat is moved or cancelled by Scott Kranz Photography, guests will be issued a full refund (minus the deposit) in the same manner the original payment was submitted.
Scott Kranz Photography will not be held liable for any expenses or damages incurred as a result of a trip cancellation, including but not limited to preparation costs, airline tickets, travel documents, gear purchases, and airport or airline taxes.
Affected guests will be prioritized in booking for future Scott Kranz Photography retreats, and their deposit may be applied toward a future booking.
Unless noted otherwise, a minimum of five (5) participants is required to confirm a retreat. If this minimum is not met, Scott Kranz Photography will offer registered guests the option to move their reservation to a different retreat, continue with the current booking with program changes (accommodations, transportation, itinerary, or activities may change; price remains the same), or receive a full refund.
Not Included
Unless specifically included in the retreat details, retreat registration does not include travel expenses, personal expenses, travel insurance, or any additional items not specifically listed in the retreat details.
Travel Documentation
For international retreats, participants are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary documentation, including passports and visas, for travel to the retreat location.
Insurance
Unless noted otherwise, proof of international medical coverage is compulsory for all retreat participants.
Scott Kranz Photography strongly encourages all participants to purchase comprehensive travel insurance. Such coverage can protect against trip cancellations, delays, lost baggage, medical emergencies, and other unforeseen events. Please review your policy carefully to understand its coverage and limitations.
By attending a Scott Kranz Photography retreat experience, you confirm your understanding and acceptance of these terms and conditions and take full responsibility for your participation.
